What you’ll need
Here are the materials used this time.
・Craft mosaic tiles
・Clear glass container
・LED candle light
・Adhesive that can be used on glass and tiles
・Grout
First, let’s think about the tile design
Mosaic tiles can create very different moods depending on how you combine the colors.
Blue tones give a cool feel, warm tones give an autumn feel, and colorful tiles create a pop look.
Once you’ve decided on the colors, lay out the tiles to determine the design.
“What if I put this color next to it—it might look cute?”
“Maybe I’ll group the same colors together?”
Try arranging them freely while imagining the finished piece.
It’s fine to arrange them randomly or line up the colors in a regular pattern.
One of the fun things about mosaic tiles is how the look changes with each individual placement.
Start attaching the tiles
Once the design is set, use adhesive to attach the tiles one by one.
When handling small tiles, tweezers can make the work easier.
If you keep the spacing between the tiles as even as possible, the finish will look neat.
After all the tiles are attached, let them dry thoroughly according to the adhesive instructions.
Finish with grout
Once the tiles are firmly in place, fill the gaps between them with grout.
Use a spatula or similar tool to press the grout into the gaps.
If excess grout gets on the surface of the tiles, gently wipe it off with a damp sponge before it hardens.
Once the grout is dry, the lamp is complete!
When you put in the LED light…
Finally, place an LED candle light inside the lamp and turn it on.
Light leaks through the gaps between the tiles, creating a different atmosphere from daytime.
If you light it in a dim room, the gentle flicker creates a magical mood.
